Vats of Blood was originally Casey Moore. He recorded a song in his
basement on drums, guitar, bass, and vocals. After playing it for Shea Teeley, he decided
that it would be cool to record songs with Shea. For a couple months after that, Casey
would spend the night at Shea's house every couple of weeks, and they'd record a new song
each time. They used Shea's guitar, bass, drums, and computer to record on. Shea played
drums, Casey played guitar and bass, and they both did the vocals. After they had recorded
nine songs, they decided it was time to release the first Vats of Blood CD. They sold them
to whoever they could for $3 each.
After awhile, Casey and Shea wanted to start playing shows. This would be hard without a
bassist, so they brought in Mike Post to play bass. After a few practices and three songs
later, the new lineup of Vats of Blood played their first show. It was an audition for
Woodinville High School's Battle of the Bands. About 20 people showed up just to
see Vats of Blood, which was a huge compliment to the band. Out of seven bands that tried
out, Vats of Blood was the only one to be cut from the lineup.
